Funeral Songs

What song do you want paid at your funeral?

Please join us for an afternoon of conversation, music and reflections on the soundtrack of our lives and how these may offer a legacy for those we love.

Saturday 13th February 2027

Life Rites Funerals - 118 Durham St Hurstville

Refreshments available

Join artist Daniel Mudie Cunningham and Victoria Spence from Life Rites, for a Mardi Gras event exploring music, memory, mortality and the art of talking about life and death.

Since 2007 Daniel’s participatory artwork Funeral Songs has collected more than 1,300 songs chosen by people for their own funerals, from heartbreaking ballads to camp classics and dancefloor anthems.

Using music as a starting point for conversations about death literacy, queer identity and remembrance, this event invites you to imagine the soundtrack to your own lives and your own farewell and life celebration.

How do songs help us celebrate lives, honour losses and express our wishes while we are still here.

Come curious. Leave with a new way of thinking about life, death and the music in between.

Bring a Song : What is your favourite song? Is this the one you would like played at your Funeral or Life Celebration ?
